About this Instructor:
Barry Lafler is a nationally know scientific glassblower
and flameworking artist. He has 36 years of glassblowing
experience and has taught glassblowing classes at The
American Scientific Glassblowers Symposiums, Urban
Glass, Penland School of Crafts, Corning Glass, Salem
Community College, National Bottle Museum AGI and The
Art League of Long Island. Barry is employed at
Brookhaven National Laboratory where he manages the
scientific glassblowing shop manufacturing and repairing
laboratory apparatus and specialized glass equipment.
"My artwork reflects my appreciation of the medium and
the ability to push it to the limit. I have three main
goals: function, texture, and humor - not always in that
order. Working with glass has been a lifetime labor of
love for me." |
